Highly interactive studio classes for students only are an important part of the piano studio. Students practice performing by playing a piece for the other students. Every studio class also features a guest musician who works with the students to learn about the language of music. For example students have:
- Worked with a DJ to understand how a song is composed by adding and taking away layers.
- Create a digital backing track to piano melody
-Learn the melody of a popular song by ear
- Recorded demos of their own compositions with a full band
December and Year End recitals are important for students to learn performance skills and share what they have accomplished with friends and family. Recitals typically have an overarching theme which engages the audience and often invites their participation. Students learn that music is not a passive experience. Music is a social experience which engages both the performer and the audience. For example, recitals have:
-Features students playing duets with family members
-Invited the audience to sing along with well known tunes
- Provide the audience with homemade percussion instruments to play along
